October 2, 1914 Fire
Originating in the Slavin Hotel (Duke House), this fire would destroy 15 store fronts and structures on the lower side of Duke Center's Main Street. The fire started at 6:00 am and destroyed everything from Wolcott's to the Rink. Upwards of $5,000 in loss and everyone but Berry's carried insurance and no lives were lost. |
