Eldred's Kendall Bridge
Also known as the Allegheny River Viaduct Junction of Routes 346 and 446. The Kendall name comes from locals in reference to the longtime Kendall station located directly at the entrance of the bridge. Completed in 1928 after two years of construction, the mammoth viaduct crosses over railroad tracks, a secondary road and the Allegheny River. Constructed of concrete and steel, it is approximately 500 feet long. The deterioration of the bridge strength was caused by heavy traffic and flood damages resulting in the complete replacement in 1974. Construction of the new bridge took one year and was opened officially on August 28, 1975.
